I got out without a full inventory... what could I be missing?

i have everything in my inventory except what's in the box...........how do i move that pesky octopus from of the top of the box?

you need to get the

shark to move him, to get the shark, think what do you find in clams

You have to put the pearl in the shell next to the shark. The pearl will reflect the light and the shark will wake up and scare the octopus away

only got the boring ending, showing everything i used (had full inventory). how do you get alternate ending?

The only criteria I know of is

picking up the object that disappear from your inventory after you are done using it (the rock, pearl, and fish). Did you pick up the pearl again after opening the door?

Edit: That sounds like you got the good ending. To get the bad one just don't pick up one of those.

Hi madmilly. I've not played this for awhile....let me try replaying and see if I can help you.

EDIT: To get the pearl:

Give the small round stone to the seal after you have given him the clam and he opens the clam shell for you. Then get the clam shell from him. (It appears in your inventory.) Then click on it, and the ?. Then click on it again, and it opens and you can remove the pearl.

I have a key but the box on the ship will not open for me, where do I find the small stone to give to the animal holding the clam?
