I didn't find it until I had mixed the other ingredients, checked the loose tiles, then went to the beach, returned, and checked the loose tiles again. I might have just missed the correct loose tile the first time around, though. But I am pretty sure I didn't miss it...

No, Escape, it's not about "the correct loose tile", you have to mix other contents before you can find the worm. I tried twice, the worm won't show before you mix other things, I clicked every sigle piece of stone, and when I have things mixed, it's under a stone I already checked before, but the place is random.
