  • Nonograms

Japanese Puzzles, also known as Nonograms, Paint by Numbers, or Japanese Crosswords, are popular puzzles in which square cells are painted to get a picture. In each of the vertical or horizontal rows there are some numbers that indicate the lengths of the painted sections. There should be at least one blank cell between the neighboring painted cells.

Note to the mods - I did a search and only found an example of a nonogram in a riddle game. Hopefully this is not a repeat of a post I overlooked.

Please use spoilers to give hints:

Oh I played a nonogram in a CD Rom game one time, never saw another one since. I'll give it a try.

These are not fast paced games - more of a rainy day take your time puzzle. You should be able to print them as well.

Problem is getting the first line started in order to work from there. I will work on it later, gotta make dinner right now.

I've done these before. I really think this one could use an undo button though. I accidentally cleared all my work by hitting one of the buttons on the side when I was playing earlier today and I didn't see a way to get it back again. I didn't save it before that because I really wasn't anticipating it.

That's too bad Jack. I would have thought a prompt asking "do you really want to clear" would have popped up at the very least for that command.

Maybe others will benefit from reading about your misfortune.

Well that took a while because I messed something up somewhere and had to start over but I finally finished level 1

Okay, I'm a glutton for punishment. I went back and finished the first one. Not too bad once you get used to the controls. Just save a lot so you don't lose your progress.

Edit: Done the 2nd one now

                  Can this be finished?

I got Gemsweeper. I was doing well until the levels got in the hundreds and I am stuck. Does any one have a walkthrough or cheat please?
