I totally don't get how the hints work... and also how to get those bonus-points, without them you can't progress

I think this is one of those games you need patience
        New York!
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
        There's nothing you can’t do,

        Now you're in New York!
These streets will make you feel brand new,
        These lights will inspire you,
Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York

I agree with Joe. The hints worked by showing shadows for the placement of the two available tools in New Zealand but once you move into Australia all you see is boxes with exclamation points - no shadows and no apparent way to turn on the hints.

I finished all of Australia anyway but without the bonuses.

Hopefully Jack will investigate when he sees this game.

You pretty much have to set up each level so everything repeats in the same order. You'll notice a number appear each time the ball hits a new item. If you repeat an item before that the counter resets to one. If there are five items it should go in a sequence 1,2,3,4,5 then repeat the same process over again. The hints apparently are suppose to give approximate locations of where to put the items, but they really don't help much. I only played the first seven levels so far, but I didn't have much time today to mess around with it. My laptop is too slow to play it when there are a lot of items on the screen, so I'll have to give it serious effort tomorrow.

Edit: Okay, upon playing even further there seems to be importance to lining up the same tool several times in a row and how fast your machine repeats the process. I am currently on level 12 (Zanzibar), but the game doesn't seem to reward creativity. The ones that work really well never seem to score well, while the ones with everything crammed into a small space so it hits everything at once seem to win every time. Can't say I care much for this one.

I tend to agree Jack. The game seems to reward what the maker had in mind only and doesn't recognize creativity. Think I will pass.
