Do you get same credit just getting to other side as you would eating all bad guys?

I don't think I've eaten all guys on any of the levels I played.

I have. You get a flurry of stars rather than just a message saying level complete. The opponent will stop before touching the last row and keep attacking so I am not sure what the best goal is.
