No matter how many times I hit the key it will not fall. I don't think this level is working for me.

Have you tried to

hover to it from below? Like lifting it with the stick so that it can fall down from the hook

Yes Mistery I've tried every position over and over again - nothing.

When I hover over key/under key, with or without the pole, nothing happens not even a change in the cursor to indicate a hot spot

I'll start this game again using I.E. and see what happens.

If you can't get it, I'll replay it to level 4, maybe I can give you a better hint as I don't remember details anymore.

I had no problems with 4. I don't know why it doesn't work for you:

I grabbed the stick from under the bed, then highlighted it in my inventory.
Then hovered over the bottom of the key with the stick, and got it

Can't find key or pw for 11... I have

4 black things (3 used), magnet (used) and the riddle. Not sure how to use the last black thing.

Use the same way as you did the other black things. What do you see? Where have you seen these before in the room?

Do that at another place in the room

I never quite finished this game so I'm going to try again now.

In the final room the grid on the wall shows me that I'm missing pieces 11 and 12. Any hints on where these pieces are.

I assume they are in rooms 11 and 12

Edit: Found the 12th piece. Still searching for 11th

Yes, they are there

Use magnet around door (not sure but I think it was a bit to the right of the door)
Just hover around with the magnet.

I think you have to use the axe on dresser a few times.
