i mailed to the maker of this code, and he claims it's just a fluke that the mis-spelled word works ...
i have the real answer, not sure how i can hint it without being too obvious ..

Hey Guys,

I am the author of this little puzzle. Thank you all for your
interest, and to those who directed me to this site. I'm surprised to
see this new wave of interest, since it was created a few years back,
and I'd forgotten completely about it.

I do apologize for the (partially unintentional) difficulty of no. 8.
But hey, no one said you couldn't cheat .

Also I wanted to point out, that the "real" answer for the last
question is not what most people are getting (the misspelled word...
or that really really simple one). The thing is, I generate a number
from the previous solution(s), which is used as a key to decode the
next message. This means several random letter combinations give the
same key, and thus decrypt the next message. That another word, which
sort of makes sense, (almost) fits for the last question is quite a
coincidence. But if it works...

Originally brute forcing the underlying (javascript) code was the only
way to solve this last one, but I changed it to something which was
possible to guess.

The point of the hint is just to say:

Stop looking for the answer; you already know what it is.

(Still kind of cryptic, but I guess I'm evil that way

Have fun with all the other puzzles on the forum. I'll probably have a
look myself when I get the time.

There were some pretty good hints for those in this thread.

6 is probably the most discussed riddle. It's a sound file

Slow it down and reverse it...

I's very hard to make out. Or put in other words, it's ....?

7 is a chinese character. Try searching for

kanji by stroke count
