there are only 12 boots total if there are 6 pairs each of black and brown...so to get one pair that matches, wouldn't it be logical that if you take 7 boots out, there should be a match at least once???

leapfrog, your logic is incorrect. Take it this way.

There are 1000 pages in the book. If 1000 pages are lying, that would include the 1000th page. But if the 1000th page is telling the truth, then there cannot be 1000 pages lying.
There is only 1 page that tells the truth.

If all the pages but one are lying, figure out which one isn't. It can't be the last page, because then ALL the pages would be lying.
