no clue what else to do

even tough I wouldn't agree, a duckling is a duck a small one but still a duck. But THX wouldn't have solved it without that hint.

I'm with you on this, and haven't got a clue at all. I know that the letters are in order to be filled in. the order is not horizontal nor vertical backwards or forward, as I found out. Diagonally makes no sense either. I guess it has to do with a number that is used to count 6 as an example every 6th letter to be filled in or something. But that way there are far to many possibilities.

I've also read and reread this thread a couple of times. Sorry but I need a push too.

i didn't use the pic at all... i just rearranged the letters to form a sentence. don't know if there was any rhyme or reason to it though

One of the ways you mentioned is actually the way to get the answer. You mustn't have been paying attention when you did it.

The letters on the bottom are to be filled in as they are, left to right. It's just how you put them in the crossword that matters.
