which could be wrong my first thought

Once again, I'm stuck, this time on Level 14. I saw a previous hint and thought it all made sense. I confidently did what I thought I needed to do and got two strings of letters. Tried adding them and subtracting them, and although I'm expecting to get a word I haven't heard of, I don't even get anything I could pronounce!

I'm at 16. Have deciphered what's obvious, know it relates to what you can see, but... what next?

Unfortunately, I need help again on lvl 15. I've seen the hint here, but not sure how to apply it to the grid.
