47, not 48

.
Second of all, in the instructions, it said that if the answer to a puzzle was a number, answer with the number, so even if your number was correct, the correct solution would actually be

48, not fourtyeight

Here's the explanation of the creator.

48 can both be spelled fourtyeight and fortyeight. here we spell it fourty eight

oh and it is fourty right because the question , which was How many dots?, has a dot in the 2 o's and a dot under he question mark.

Tricky indeed, but looking at it that way the riddle part of the first page indeed have that many full dots.
