Sometimes in riddles you can find pages that contains clues for finding the final answer that's what people calls 'eggs'

Looks like I'm stuck at soiled hands (four riddles) I have revealed 3 of the clues, but what I thought was the obvious answer

pompei or vesuvius

isn't, so I think I have to soil my hands. Any clues?

hi all!! Unfortunately I have to go out and probably won't get much riddle time tonight I've made it to Glaring Moon and Frozen Path. Still can't get Dead River (lines/letters) in spite of having found something to read and a HUGE nudge from Calista. Anyway, you all are doing great! I'll miss you all tonight!!! Glaring Moon - I've tried all the chess terms I thought likely, but to no avail.
Dead River - No idea at all.
Bodley Graveyard - Again, tried a lot of relevant words to no avail.

find out the "failure" that ties those four words together (wiki helps), then remove the letter indicated in the picture, your last step is indicated by the m***** in the picture. You will get an answer that pretty well applies to this whole riddle
