Edit: As the holidays is now upon us, I too have entered the holidays spirit.
I went through the entire riddle and added hints and explanations to make it a bit more easy on the players and more accessible to new players.
This does not mean it is now a piece of cake, but at least now it is starting to get the shape of some sort of pastry

Have you...

checked the hidden hint? The number of the things you have to collect matches the number of things you see in the top page picture. So now you know what you have to collect, right?

I suggest to start with number conversion - it might hint you on which game we are playing
