Ok, so far I've gotten

the candle, lit it, the power glove (numbers box--hint is in the black book in the right book shelf), the sword (power glove), used the sword for the leave on the vine, ground the herb, got the water (arrows box--right side guard, left side guard, right side guard),the potion, the white marble (lavender book on left hand side bookshelf), and green marble (use potion on weird rock).

Haven't figured out where the key is, small door in buttress, or rainbow pentagon.
Never mind. I found the key

in the black book, too, with the animal names.

Finally figured out the rainbow pentagon.

it's the potions between the bookcases with the guards on them, from smallest to biggest
