Well yes at least where I was at, people wandered upon the catwalk and showed their costumes to the audience. Then you could vote for who you liked the most. They put a lot of effort into it, looking as much as possible like the actual characters.

Well, my mistake. Cosplay is ,like Theme described, Japanese costuming of an amine/game/manga character.
