I think what it really means is that it's much better to end a friendship with a smile than with a tear, or a moan. If a friendship ends, it's normally a sad thing, but 'we have to be strong' and take it with a smile, even if we don't really fell like smiling at the moment...

@Miss Holland..Yes hondsdolheid and Rabies are the same. And I'm only for 90 percent certain that the antidote is kept in Flevoland, it also could be the laboratorium where they test (dead) animals (bats, dogs, foxes) on Rabies.
