  • Hi crimson. You buying a "new" house, or and older home?

    I guess you answered.
    That is awesome.

You are very smart to buy a house at 24. You cannot go wrong. I dont own yet, but I will.

I work with many interior decorators. I have no opinion around them(he he he) But I do see really cool work sometimes.

    • I'm soooo excited about it. I got $11,000 in free upgrades... so I've got wonderful Silestone countertops and tall cherry cabinets, tile in all the wet areas, upgraded carpet, 9' high vaulted ceilings, and best of all--a jacuzzi tub! Plus some other stuff that's not as exciting.

      • @Skellisin....I think that's WONDERFUL what you and your friends did! I bet it looked fabulous. That's just awesome.

@ Crimson....LOL...Yeah, but you probably weren't living with your parents for years and years, and they were probably happy to have you around again. I know my mom would love it. But congrats on the new house. And it's new new!! That's very cool!

Okay, guys,,,,I'm really off now. BYE!

              What do you teach?

And ask any questions you want... I'm bored, and it gives me something to do.

                • Awesome. I love math. I only took calc II in college. I wanted to be an Architect. Then an Engineer. I did it too. I worked for Intel for two years. Math and science was everything to me. It probably is for you too...(obviously)

I am in sales now. I guess I didn't like to work....HA HA HA

Q#1)Remind me, what is 5th grade math? What are they learning?

                  • Actually, I think I liked Language Arts better when I was in school... but I couldn't stand to teach it! I love math and science much more now. I want to help my students develope a love for them, too... so many think math is hard and boring--so I try to show them how it can be fun.

                    • I totally agree. My dad, before he left, taught me to make it sort of a game. It is in a way, puzzles. I always had fun and did well in math. But physics was difficult. First basic, one thing makes another move, then heat transfer, then electromagnetic..... I like math.

But you indeed did not answer question#1

                      • Oops, I didn't read all of the instructions! My kids would be in trouble.

Well, right now, we're experimenting with factors, and we're moving into prime/composite numbers tomorrow. Then we'll do prime factorization, move into fractions (ordering them, finding equivilent fractions, reducing them), and then connect that to prime numbers by using prime factorization to reduce fractions. We'll also learn about geometry (2- and 3-d shapes, area, perimeter, volume; transformations; the first section of the coordinate plane); converting decimals to fractions; adding/subtracting decimals/fractions; estimation and probability. That's the first semester, anyway. And probably way more detailed than you cared about. The second semester is largely used for reviewing for our big standardized test.
