I've made an inventory item but how do I make a place where I can use it in the game?

You mean like using a key on a door?
If so, you create a hotspot over the door knob for example. Then click on "Manage Inventory Items" on the left small screen. Click "create new item" if you haven't yet and import the .ico file that you have made (you have to use small .ico images for inventory objects).
When you have your item (for example the key), drag it on the hotspot.
The "Hotspot Properties" open up.
Choose the necessary options.
For example to open a door with a key: Go to the Action tab and check the box for "Remove the dragged item from inventory", and on the General tab check "Go to another frame" (which shows the open door, or the next room).
