I strongly dislike this idea and even more how it's been handled. I would like to make it very clear I had no part whatsoever in these decisions. If this is how threads are going to be handled I suggest that any thread in GH planet section are created by moderators only. I will not create any new threads in here since my views and ideas about this thread have been ignored while the decision was made.

The decision to alter the rules was decided upon after a long discussion among all the currently available moderators. We all felt that having threads which were exclusive and require permission to join did not fit in with the friendly and inviting atmosphere we try to maintain here for all members. This change needed to happen and is nothing personal against you. We did consider you while making the decision, but we also had to look at the big picture as well. We want all members to feel accepted and have fun here, and if we start having private threads where people cannot post without being invited that could change the one thing many of us love so much about this forum. Allowing members to announce that they want to become a member of CST in the forum itself was decided on out of fairness to the moderators and the people requesting membership. The moderators have to deal with many issues everyday and are already quite busy. There is no guarantee how long it would take a member to get a response, and it is unreasonable to make them wait for us. This allows the member to start posting immediately without making the moderation feel compelled to act immediately. Again, our goal is for people to enjoy themselves here, whether they are brand new or have been here for years.

EDIT: I have had some input on the matter by moderation. I will not discuss the issues here but I am still leaving the Loony Bin. I would still like to hand over the threads to any moderator who care to have them, i e Loony Rules and CST, because I am leaving the community of the Loony Bin.
