How did the terms Google Spider and Yahoo! Slurp Spider originate? When viewing Whos Online I see those quite a bit mingled with Guests.

I am not sure if I understand your question correctly, but those are just bots who gather information for the search engines google and yahoo.
If you mean how the software of this site recognize them as bots, probably because the host of the IP they use share this info. In example lj513391.crawl.yahoo.net

        Example

Here is a small snapshot. I see Becky there playing in the game contest. Are you saying those Slurp Spiders (viewing user profiles) are not real people?

Yep, they're not real people just bots.

Here are some articles about it.

            thumbnails optional?

Question about managing attachments. Since all the new bells and whistles arrived in GHtown my posted pictures default to thumbnails. However I see new pics posted that are just like they always were...fullsize. Where is that magic button?

It depends on how you include the picture. If a picture is attached to your message (i.e. uploaded from your computer), it will show as a thumbnail. If you embed the picture with [img][/img] tags, it will show original size.

I have always done the former method in your answer. Have to practice on the latter.

                Thanks Crimson

is it possible to put pictures from your computer into your messages when commenting on someones profile cause you know how on some threads it has the option of managing attachments, but on the profile ones it doesn't?

It's possible by uploading the picture via an image host (i.e. Imageshack, Photobucket). Then copy and past the link to here and put it in image tags.

Is there a thread about the elections? Whether be Canadian or American?

try a search for politics or elections. I don't see one though. Politics is a hot button topic.

We have a politics chat thread:

So far it mainly have been used for jokes about politicians, but it can be used for serious conversations too.

Is there always a chance that we could make one only for elections?

Up to the moderaters here but honestly... I feel that Gamershood is focused, and should be, more on games and riddles. I honestly don't see the need for a serious political debate on a games forum but that's just my tiny opinion. The Web is full of other sites to discuss such.

As I said... Politics is a hot button.. if you get into serious debates- tempers can and will flare (from experience).

                                Just my thoughts on it.

Seems to me that if there is already a politcs chat thread then that should be used- sounds like most people here are not interested in the serious side of it.
