  • I dislike this because of that.

    I dislike giraffes.
They're horrible, hideous. They don't emit any sound.
They have odd eyes and ...horns? Would you call those things horns!?
They look like alien antennae to me.
Their tongues are extremely large and purpleish and gooey.
And for God's sake why they are extemely tall?
I don't know why, how or what the hell God or evolution were thinking when they created those things.
I think they actually came out of a huge asteroid and as soon as they landed on Earth, they just started roaming around and reproduced with anything they saw to extend their reign. Thank goodness we showed them who's boss before it was too late.
Seriously I hate them. I have no explanation for their existence at all, and I bet science doesn't either.
That's why Lamarck and Darwin and pretty much everyone uses them as examples in my opinion. They started explaining their theories out of the most bizarre thing around (that's giraffes) and everything else just made perfect sense after that.
Even the platypus is more reasonable: it is the outcome of a hard, against-all-odds relationship between a duck and a beaver. That proves that all beings upon Earth have the willpower to overcome any difficulty and never give in to despair. Good for the platypus. I'm sure somewhere a duck's and a beaver's spirit have been well honored by my explanation.
    BUT GIRAFFES, MY GOD!
    JUST WHAT ARE THEY!?
Ever seen their skeletons? I haven't, because they're aliens and when they're about to die, they go back into their Mothership (the asteroid's ruins somewhere in Africa) and go into cryogenic sleep to preserve themselves and never ever really die. I haven't seen a lion eat a giraffe... nor anything else eating a giraffe.
Lions eat gazelles and zebras and horse-like creatures, but NOT giraffes? That's odd. I'm sure it is because their genetic material is not edible at all. Have YOU ever seen a giraffe being eaten? I guess not.
They're just plain weird and I hate them.

Please, tell me of your opinion. It was something I just had to let others know. And I welcome everyone who desires to express themselves about 'x' thing they dislike and why. Have a nice day

First of all giraffes were originally some kinda other animal which name I can't remember and it lived in forests or jungles (I'm betting on my memory) these animals were originally short like a....horse? But when they went to the harsh savannas they had to choice but to eat the acacia (not sure if my spelling is correct) trees! That's why they are so long! But the acacia trees have big pointy needles between the leaves and that's why the giraffe's tongues are so long! That's what scientists call "evolution" Also they have a skeleton
And lions CAN'T eat the big giraffes but they CAN eat their kids! Just watch Animal Planet for a bit

    Not to get off-topic

I dislike how my mom makes me eat soup!
It tastes so BAD! And she says it's healthy but vegetables are healthy too and some of them taste alot better! And what in the world is so healthy about the salt, spices ect. she puts in the soup?!
And also I dislike the big dogs that start barking on you for nothing!

Suzy told you why giraffes have tall necks and long toungs. I don't like some things as well, but first I learn about them as much as possible to understand why they work like this and many other questions that I might have. I now you don't like those animals but try to read or watch some documentaries about them.
For example I hate bugs especialy carcroaches (or how ever it spelled), but I admire how they can survive without any body for weeks, or with no food and drink. Same as small samaladras, I like those animals and they can grow back their leg or tail if it is cut off.
I dislike some other things but I like the way they work.

      @suzy

If you don't like the soup try to add something to it, like spices you like, or vegetables you like (I don't know if you eat meat, but if you do add some in the soup). Ask you mum to put a plate of soup for you before she adds any salt, so you can put as much as you like

I really dislike the 30 minute "news" programs that spend half of the time telling me what they will be telling me "up next". Its repititious and a total waste of time. If one station would stop that annoying habit I would watch it loyally for my news.

Ah I feel better now, thanks for the thread.

I would like to add to that. How about the scare tactics used in those same promos, like "Coming up on the news at six, could a common household item be killing you? Find out in our shocking investigative report."

            annoying, isn't it?

I just thought that I also dislike the way the restaurants write in the menu: "Hot chocolate" and they serve "Warm chocolate" If they're gonna write hot chocolate then they'd better SERVE hot chocolate!

I really dislike "teachers" who expect me to punish my child for making an honest mistake. She's five! If she says or does something rude or hurtful to another child in anger or just because she doesn't like them, I will absolutely hand down an appropriate punishment and she will appologize to that child before playing with anyone or anything else. But when she's playing with another child with leggos or Kenects or something, and makes something that looks like a ray-gun and pretends to shoot, I WILL NOT freak out!!! I realize that these days, schools are over-sensitive and have rules about "zero tolerance" and all that, but it was an honest mistake on her part. There was no malice, and the little boy had no idea what the teacher was so upset about. I talked to my daughter and explained that we don't play with guns (even though I used to when I was her age), make guns, pretend to shoot a gun, say gun, etc..., and the teacher actually questioned whether I was going to punish her or not.

I miss the good old days, these poor kids can't even play Tag at recess any more. Innappropriate touching. Can you believe it??!!!

By the way, if you ask my satan's-spawn child what a giraffe says, she replies: "Hey, I'm a giraffe!"

Thanks for your comments on my giraffe post, I'm well aware of all related information (I love to investigate everything that piques my curiosity), but those animals just seem pretty weird to me, and I dislike them because they are... well... weird.
                  @point click man:
Pretty good point there, nowadays I see girls and boys about 8 to 10-years-old going to the cinema, on parks, and pretty much everywhere I wouldn't go when I was 13! (I wasn't much of a socializer, but I did enjoy a good film from time to time) Me and my friends wouldn't go because we knew it could be a lot of trouble and most of the time chose to stay at someone's place and throw a party (oh... those were some good times).
Well, the thing is that not only are they there on their own, but they have cellphones, mp3s and all sorts of gadgets. Why would an 8 year old kid want or even use a cellphone!? They sure aren't mature enough to carry one (and they're prone to losing 'em or getting them stolen).
And finally, these lil' dudes hang around holding hands and (YES PEOPLE, EMBRACE YOURSELVES!) MAKING OUT!
My dear god, what has this world become.

I can only agree that it is ridiculous to expect a child to be punished for what they express in their imagination. That is to impose adult views on something that is not comprehensible for a child at that age. If we want children not to make "guns" when playing then we as adults should not make them in the first place. I would not think there is any reason for you to punish your child for this, no. Lets sit and dislike such teachers tagether

I completely understand the reasoning behind schools not allowing play weapons, given the horrors of school shootings that have become too common. However, in kindergarten, students are just learning that this is inappropriate. So that's when you sit the class down and explain that making toy guns in school is not a "nice" form of play, and that it is against school rules. I could understand some minor form of discipline if the child had been warned several times, but certainly not for something as innocent as you describe.

Personally, I dislike grading papers, standerdized tests, and administrators telling me how to run my classroom... but I grudgingly accept these things as part of my job responsibilities. Also, being single is getting to be a drag.

Oh, I completely understand the reasoning, they just take it way too far! My mother was a registered home daycare provider, and can you believe that she wasn't allowed to open the windows because there were no bars on them?! The reasoning behind that was because the kids might crawl out. The were standard windows. You know, the bottoms were about waist high on an adult. She couldn't even open the top halfs, in case the kids fashioned a catapult or learned to fly or something, I guess.

The "authorities" won't be happy until we wrap out kids in bubblewrap and they are all home schooled! No wonder they have no imagination by the time they are 10! I see these/read these ads for kids to "go out and play" with a disclaimer "only with proper equiptment, and don't run too fast, and make sure an adult is present, but only a parent that you know because they might abduct you. And don't play a game were there is a clear winner, because the one who loses will develop low self-esteem." UGH!

                          Sorry, I was ranting.

Julibean, I totally agree with everything you've said. I have an 8 ,7 and 5 year old and they are always telling me what they are NOT allowed to do in school. My 5 year old is autistic and goes to a special needs school and to be honest they are allowed to do more than a normal mainstream school. The more "normal everyday things" are used to help them cope in the outside world .
If good old fashioned discipline and common sense were used , we would'nt have half the problems we have today .

You know there was actually a law to ban spanking being considered. **shudders**
I've spanked my child (I mean over-the-knee) exactly once, when she was sent to her room after failing "time-out". She stood in the doorway screaming at the top of her lungs and proceeded to slam the door into her wall numerous times, putting a hole in the wall with the doorknob. I think it shocked her more than hurt her. I remember I spanked her three times, put her in her bed, went in the living room and cried my eyes out. When I went back in her room five minutes later, to hug her and tell her I loved her (very important), she was playing with her dolls. She got over it before I did!

She's never done that again, though. She learned her lesson that day, and so have I. We now have door stops on every door.

Moderation is everything when parenting, and that includes discipline. When are people going to realize?
