It feels like the early start of a stereotypical Canadian winter in the mornings, with all the freezing and blizzards and such

LOL, Sunflower!
You're right. Water and laptops are a definite bad mix.
Our weather has been very sunny and mild. All summer long, we've only had 2 days reach the 90's (F) and two days where it went over 100 (103 and 107) F. Otherwise temps have been very comfortable, and the nights cooling.
Not bad. Now I'm starting to see leaves begin to fall. Did we even HAVE a summer?!
Oh well, no complaints from me. I hate the heat.

It's been really weird around here this summer. Really hot, then not-so-hot, lots of clouds and rain, then a very strong wind several weeks ago downed many trees and damaged a few houses in our area (no injuries, though, thank goodness). Several cities and towns (including mine) have a program set up for people to apply for compensation for the damage, because so many have had flooded basements (to the point that some have not just had damaged furniture and basements, but some of the homes became unlivable -- I think. I can't remember the news story anymore). Wild and wacky, that's for sure!
Right now, it's not too bad out. A little humid, but around 20C. The next few days though are supposed to be between 25-30C, with the humidity pushing it above 30C. *melts* It's cloudy-ish right now, and if it rains I'd better bustle my butt inside b/c I don't think laptops and water mix very well.

The storm stayed out.
But it cooled down a little nevertheless - about 24-26 C.
But now the temperature is climbing again - 32 C today. Can't really complain though, as long I don't have to drive hours long in that heat! And that was the case when it was 36 C. Although.. saunas are claimed to be good for you.
Friday last week it was 36 C in the shadow. In the car it was even more hot. When we came home my husband and I both said "ah! it's so nice cool here inside!" We looked at the thermometer and were surprised it was still 28 C.

I hate this time of year in the southeast(U.S.). Always hot and humid with no cold fronts in sight! Even the afternoons thunderstorms offer little relief since it's sooo humid.
But what the heck...

Sun, sun and sun, no wind. 37 C or 98.6 F
Tomorrow they predict the same, but in the afternoon we get storm, thunder, rain and hail!
In other words: it's going to cool down a little.

Slow steady rain and constantly rumbling skies as if the gods all ate burritos

Aw. You guys should visit out here where the temps are mild, humidity is fine, and the days are sunny with a breeze.

Yeah, funja, tis the season for two showers a day. Where I work, you can add at least another twenty degrees to the ambient. It is not pleasant, and frankly, exhausting.
