After inserting the wood into the workbench, take the hammer and pound each one of the wood pieces on the table one time each (The clue to do this is in the first room where you start!).

But it doesn't work, and I don't get the part between the brackets.

if you click on the picture on the wall (the strange art), this is exactly what it says

But this didn't work for me either. I even replayed to check, and also the 2nd time it didn't work for me.
My positions were if highest is 4 and smallest is 1

4, 2, 3, 2 from left to right
