Help can't seem to find the last symbol for the box....... it's the cross any hints please

I can't figure out what to do with the box with symbols

I tried

standing facing the front wall so that the arrows line up with where the symbols are

but that doesn't seem to work

try going to each place around the room where the symbols on the box appear. Then, click on the box to get it to the corresponding symbol you are looking at. Close the box window, click on the box in the inventory so that it is highlighted and then click on the symbol you are looking at

Pour it on the floor in front of the doors and then play the stereo...I think you can figure it out from there!!

Argh! Trapped inside the second room now!

I have:

an empty dirty ashtray, magnet, red bike

plus stuff from before. Also found:

hollow spot near mirror, emergency light and flap in door

cut the back of the chair with the knife and get a cloth to clean the ashtray
