I'm also stuck on the creepy bathroom, have a rubber duck full of dirty bath water, and my rat is now on fire.
That walkthrough is for the "pretty version" of it apparently. Or i'm too stupid to find the other one.

I understand the game now. The bar above "Diversity" indicates your "karma", which determines the events that occur. If you keep pressing the printer but don't actually print anything, you lose a lot of points. I did that and right now my character appears to be insane.
