I have everything except that there is one space left open in my inventory, down in the lower right.

The phone rang twice, and now the codebox on top of the bookshelves near the door is active.

But I have no way of knowing the code.

And whatever's in that code box is probably what goes in the last open slot, and then I'll be out.

i am exactly where you are like one more item beside the blue note at bottom. i have 3 cards but i dont know what code box you are talking about unless it is the black one on the bookshelf and i can not click on it. what is the space on the wall beside the door for? looks like a frame of some sort. have you been able to get the red key yet?

No, I haven't gotten the red key.

Where did you find the blue book?

And no, I don't know what that space is for.

And yes, that's the black box I'm talking about - has your phone rung 2 different times?

blue book i guess is actually a note but it is light blue in the bottom left corner of inventory. Yes my phone has rang twice, now my black box is active. i would imagine the code has something to do with the tiles that are missing. not sure though. the tiles are mixed up among themselves on the three cards...my phone is the only thing still active besides the 3 cards and the 1 note...

ps i dont have a note in my sofa this time around...

I'm in the same situation as you.

I guess we need a Japanese translator to figure out the code.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with the 3 pages of Mahjong tile layouts - so I'm thinking that a knowledge of Mahjong really IS essential.

Most of the tiles represent numbers, and looking at them, you can guess the numbers.

                            But some don't.

For the black box code, you need to know the Japanese version of scoring for Mahjongg. The code is the score of the hand found in a book I believe.
Each game is random. I found my score by trial and error.
                              Hint:

Even knowing this, I'm still not out.

This may help: (quoted from Wikipedia)
The Japanese scoring system is the system that is found in many Mahjong video games. In this variation, each player starts with anywhere between 20000 to 30000 score units, which are typically represented by a series of bars resembling elongated Chinese dominoes, in four denominations: 10000, 5000, 1000, and 100. Should a player lose all their score units, the game immediately ends, with the player furthest ahead in points declared the winner

Well, the brute force approach got me the contents of the box - a pink note.

Now just the cellphone is active, the "wallet", and the pink note.

And I'm not out yet either.
