How do you get a close up view of items when there in your inventory?

aghh. this sucks. it won't let me put the bowl of ? in front of the heater, and i have no idea how to view items close up.

i have:

A cable
a note
a cutter
a battery
a bowl of something
a red box (used)
a flashlight (used)
and a golden key with a red dot in it that i used once but hasn't disappeared.

I can't believe I'm having this much problems! i might come back later.

First key:

Use the first key from the pillow on the top drawer, then I think the battery to put in the machine and turn it on

The second key:

The second key from the bowl gets you the tape, use in the vcr and the cord the click the TV, it will show you where to use the cutter

The safe code:

Using the computer passcode gets you a series of numbers, notice where they are on the calendar and apply it to the safe

Press the 3rd, 5th, and 6th buttons on the safe to get the door key

I have found: electric cord, battery (used), key (used), flashlight (used), red food package (used) from which I got a note in Japanese that I cannot read

which can be placed under the microscope

, frozen food (blue bowl), and box cutter. I'm guessing that language may be an issue for getting the code. Can't seem to do anything now except spin around the room trying to cut things and feed the lion.

Edited: The thing that I thought was a paper shredder is a heater.

A heater can be very useful when you need to thaw something.

another key (used) and a video tape (used). Found a safe. It needs a date code. Can't figure out what.

Hoping someone who can read Japanese shows up soon to play and translate. LOL!

Get red thing from fridge, a note will come out aswell.
Grab food from freezer
