I can't click on that plate. That bloody letter keeps getting in the way!!!

OK. Every time I click on the metal plate, THAT BLOODY STUPID LETTER keeps coming up. And no matter how much I click on the actual letter, no matter how much I scroll down the letter so that the plate is in view, no matter how many times I click THAT DAMN PLATE it won't go into my inventory.
