man, save option in this game is most important! It cracks often. Now I wish I would save it more often

Fantastic game. Took me a little longer than I'd like to admit to figure out how to lock the front door.

I tried that, but it doesn't work.. I assume, that it must be obvious to most people, since it hasn't been mentioned here, but I just can't get it..
