the decoder is

right beside the safe looking thing, in the first scene where you start
chapter 2. but you need batteries for it to work, you'll find that in the ship. once you
place the battery in it you'll be able to pick it up.

That's not a decoder =.= That's a metal detector.
Decoder is

in first room of cave, on the floor. Its a bluish-green tube with squares on it.

Number Outside the Cave

The number outside the cave is NOT upside down. I decided to try it after getting stuck and finally got out!

Two ways to exit caves

Two solutions have been suggested to run the cave. These are real spoilers.

Consider the XI on outside of cave to be backward, upside down, mirrored...and use line IX in the decoder. The arrows will guide you out in order from left to right even thought the pictures don't match.

Go to line 11 on the decoder (this matches the cave's XI and find the corresponding left half/right half cave image and go in the direction of the corresponding arrow

Both work but I believe Two is the best logically.

They both work but...I wanna know how people deduce that they need to mirror the number? Where would they find the clue from?

I've tried Sol. 1 and Sol. 2 in the cave forward and backward and I still can't get anywhere. I need help.
