It IS hard, so either we are complicating things or we should now start to think HARD, I don't know.
I think I can tell you one more thing:
words have one thing in common
and in this thread, one of the earlier posts about 44, made by one of you, there is a GREAT POINT of view (but I won't tell you more than this).

Great (... would it be if we didn't post so much ideas about 44, lol). Going to make a "post analysis" about level 44 tomorrow. :-)
(By the way I printed out the two pages and took them with me when I went to bed yesterday, and had dreams about that riddle all night long - seriously! So I was pretty exhausted when I woke up this morning).

Hehe, that narrows it down to 99 other possibilities :-)
Thanks for posting Eugy.
Well, I guess then it was my idea you mean. I redid my theories again and played around with what I obtained, but I have still no idea what to do. I also read your hints carefully at least 10 times and tried to make a link to it but could not. So I'm still staring at two letter sequences and a chart of letters.
Judy, did you solve the horse?

Okay guys, I think I have the right idea about how to solve it, (probably something you all have tried thousands of times before) but I just need the patience to do so.I have noticed various "patterns" in the grid that line up correcty with some of the words. For example, if "BALL" were on the list, it would have been encoded as "XJYY" in the grid. I'm thinking either it's just a random substitution or there was a certain cipher used.I've just been trying to narrow down the letters in the grid and need just a little more help from you all, as my patience is wearing thin. I really hope this idea works because I'm about out of them if this doesn't."Never regret something that once made you smile. Just learn from the tears that followed."

Eyes, I'm not sure if your idea ofsimple substitutionworks.
I did a frequency analysis for the letters of the list and for the grid. If I compare them, a substitution seems to me rather improbable because the frequency pattern doesn't match at all.

Well, damn, I thought I was onto something. Okay then. Back to pulling out my hair."Never regret something that once made you smile. Just learn from the tears that followed."
