Well, I guess then it was my idea you mean. I redid my theories again and played around with what I obtained, but I have still no idea what to do. I also read your hints carefully at least 10 times and tried to make a link to it but could not. So I'm still staring at two letter sequences and a chart of letters.

Okay guys, I think I have the right idea about how to solve it, (probably something you all have tried thousands of times before) but I just need the patience to do so.

I have noticed various "patterns" in the grid that line up correcty with some of the words. For example, if "BALL" were on the list, it would have been encoded as "XJYY" in the grid. I'm thinking either it's just a random substitution or there was a certain cipher used.

I've just been trying to narrow down the letters in the grid and need just a little more help from you all, as my patience is wearing thin. I really hope this idea works because I'm about out of them if this doesn't.

Eyes, I'm not sure if your idea of

simple substitution

works.

I did a frequency analysis for the letters of the list and for the grid. If I compare them, a substitution seems to me rather improbable because the frequency pattern doesn't match at all.
