Not sure if this help, but this is how I got the idea of 17
You could say that the small polygons are gathered in 4 different group on the pictures.
Check how many of each type of polygons each group has and compare the results and see if you get a light bulb.
If not: is the total amount of small polygons odd or even?
edit: I am officially stuck on 18. Tried lots of things, also logical simple things, but nothing.
Focus on one type of polygon at the time. Where are they located in the picture in position of each other?
Remember I asked if the amounts of polygons were odd or even? Each type of polygon has an even amount.
Now stop with the theatrical bowing and get to 18.
The circle with the arrow the the biggest clue. It hints two things:
- where to start
- how to use the arrows.
Additionally also look at the squares in the corners - they are rotated a little. How does this match up with the circle clue?
