Anyway, the poem was written by one of Swedens most famous poets Nils Ferlin. Known to swedes that is (well, hopefully ) Glad ya liked it dear daughter

Yes, it's hard for me coz the rhyme is the most important essence in the poems. To rhyme beautifully there're some omissions, replacements/shifts of the words and some literary-style expressions. Those make the poem far different from what we speak in the conversation. But I could imagine that scenary by picking up the words and feel the rhyme, and thought it beautiful poem.

But roses in a broken vase
are still always roses

Now "snuff" in this case refers to powdered tobacco that is supposed to be placed under the lip. See
