In Germany they were banned, yes. And who ever had the missfortune to become occupied by the nazis also had to follow their taste.
However, Van Gogh and Matisse and da rest of da gang were appreciated by genius American collectors Soooo, this little islander is very happy da Metropolitan Museum exists
Point is though, the art that was acknowledged by the nazis are tabu today. Very little has been written about it. Personally I do not think, well at least from what I have seen, that it is a great art work because to me it does not look like art made with a free mind. But I still think it has a historic value because it gives you an idea of what NOT to do
Enjoy your lunch dear See ya
I don't know of any work that really had been done during that time period that would have been banned in Germany. Goes to my lack of knowledge on the subject. So they were influenced by the Nazi's as well, hence the art was not that of a free mind? (Excuse my bit of ignorance. )

@ Husbun....Hello handsome hero husbun!!
@ Freakshow...Bye!
Well, artists who were encouraged by the nazi are not that known in history, ya see. The paradox is that the ones who were banned by the nazi are today world famous but painters that worked under the influence of the nazi regime are today forgotten. Also, not many know about this part of history because everyone focused on political history. Don't think of yourself as ignorant, dear daughter, there are plenty of europeans who do not know this either
The only reason I know that those artists existed was because of articles and photos taken from the exhibition where some of the nazi art work are shown. But the ones that where kept had a focus on the degenerate exhibition and not the main one.
