@ Vivi...Your ideas for your room sound really nice!! I like the neutral/earthtone colors you've chosen. My place is so small, it's too cluttered to "decorate" in a theme.

thats not true- i bought some papyrus pictures in egypt- cheepie things- but ok- and used them as the theme for the upstairs toilet- just the picture, stone walls and a black and burgundy stripe at one point of the wall-with black and burgundy magazine rack and black towel hooks-this is a 2m room and is exciting- if youre not an egyptian of course

@ Vivi....Wow!! You really are an interior decorator. And a cook!? You're a good friend to have!!! Now come remodel my tiny studio apartment! Well, the reason I have such a hard time, is because since my apartment is basically one room, I have a lot of stuff jammed into a small space, and it looks horrible cluttered. But you're right. I COULD do a theme...

not good to do themes in small apartments, the best is to go with a coordinated colour scheme with a central focus, rather than a theme - i have a reasonably big house- so i can try things out- but i do like to spend time thinking of things that will look good and are easy to clean!!

Hmm...Do you have a recommendation for particular colors for a small room/apartment? I use a lot of white/brown/beige simply because I found dark colors make my place look even smaller.

And easy to clean is DEFINITELY something I agree with you on!

white brown beige are great i think- but in a corner of the room you can allow a really freeaky green for about a half a meter on the two corners- but you need then a good plant stand and a eyecatching leafy plant that gives a little jungle feel- or something in red or black or whatever lifts a part of the room to give a feeling of escape or movement

Ooh!!! That's a great idea!! You're seriously making me want to redecorate my apartment! I have the long leafy plant, but it's on a dresser, not a plant stand. Though I think plant stands do a lot for a room. But I really like the idea of having a small corner with something that stops the monotonous, colorless decor. Thank you!!!!

you are welcome- i like fairly neutral things myself- but like to surprise myself with plantlife that changes a little-and a little corner gives the opportunity to change mood without doing the whole room- ive lived in small apartments for a big part of my life- ive travelled so much- but now i have room to try out things-

@ Vivi....One day - when I am done at the University, I plan on having a bigger place, too. Then I can have the kind of house and decor that I'd really like. I'm not so good with small spaces. Doesn't help that I sometimes keep stuff that may as well just get donated to charity or thrown away.

@ Mom....Da alien has special powers like that, you know.
