ROOOOOFL! Yes, yes....that's quite true, actually! Not all areas are redneck areas. For example, a lot of the cities there aren't. But yeah, when you hear the term "redneck," they're often from the midwest. But we have them in California, too. And let's just say, I'm not a fan of rednecks. Hehe. Luckily, where my mom lives, there are not a lot of people who fit that category.

Yeah, I love pools, though I'm not a strong swimmer. What happened when I was young, was an undertow swept me off my feet when I was in the water that was no deeper than my feet. (Not even up to my ankles.) And it pulled me out into the ocean. I couldn't swim. My mom was up so fast and pulled me back. She had no idea that was a risk in such shallow water. I remember it clearly. I've also had some other bad experiences in water (almost drowning 2 other times.) So I have a healthy respect for it. It can be pretty dangerous.

I hope so. I was surprised that even Jack was stumped!

Do that! Cos once you start eating them, you wont stop! They make them on a kind of bbq, but you can have them smoked (don't know if that is the proper word) too. It's a pretty run down place, but the spare ribs make it all worthwile

Everyone might be an exaggeration, but in comparison to most European countries, the number of people owning guns in America is astonishing Tsssk, Europeans should talk about being patriotic, we all have big stories about the great history of our countries, but seem to forget all the nasty things we've done while 'discovering' the world Can't say I'm too proud of Holland in that respect...

I can imagine she was extra careful with you on that beach!

Well, you'd probably have to get technical and look at ratios of peopler per capita, etc. But that's boring. Thankfully, I know only one person with a gun, and he's a police officer. It worries me when they get into the wrong hands. I'm not interested in ever having one!! As far as country's histories... Well, if you ask me we all have good with the bad. What's best is getting as much peace as we can all over. That's my thought. And Holland looks beautiful. Adventure informed me it's not all tulips and windmills, though!

In all honesty I haven't touched a gun since I was a police officer. I hate the things myself.

Nope, Holland isn't just that! We also have the Red Light District, Coffeeshops, lots of euthanasia and abortions.... Nah, Holland has it's really beautiful parts! I'll show you my favourite spots when you are here

@Iva...LOL! Hey, I have a cynical side at times, too. It's cool. Btw, come to think of it...I've never seen a gun outside of a store or in the hands of someone other than a police officer too! Just realized that. I know an ex friend had one, 'cause she told me, and I said I never want to be around it, or see it.

LOL!! You make Holland sound SO lovely! LOL. And here we have wine country, beach cliffs, the Golden Gate... Of course, we have some of those things you mentioned, too.

It has been two years since I quit. I am far happier now but unfortunately I make less money. Although my recent raise has put me pretty close.

To be honest most cops are decent people, but there are some that are you know what. I hated working with people that were on power trips. They did their job, but had this very smug attitude about it and felt everyone was below them. They would've given their own mothers a traffic ticket if they could. They were the ones that give police a bad name. Chances are if you were pulled over and you felt it was unfair it was that type of officer. Sadly most people don't get to see the decent cops unless something bad happens.

@Jack....I'm glad your money is increasing over there. Taking a pay cut is no fun, but being happier can make it worthwhile.

Well, I've only met two of those police officers on power trips, but I've never had any problems with any police. Even those two. Most seemed like nice, good people. It's unfortunate that police, in general, get such a bad rap. That's a VERY hard job. I respect them. The way I see it, you have people like that in every job - just that when the ones with attitudes are police officers they abuse their power in a sense.

I can be too cynical sometimes, especially about the human race I'm one of those freaks who would choose to rescue an animal over a person

That's another stereotype, American cops. All very muscular, sunglasses and brutal. That's just because of the movies of course
It's hard being a cop, it's like with teachers and parents, the ones making the rules and telling you what you can and can't do are always loved and despised...
