You were a User Awaiting Email Confirmation. In other words you never used the email confirmation that was sent to you by email to gain full membership. And that's why you couldn't upload a custom avatar. I have confirmed you manually. I hope it works for you now.

My profile pic is supposed to have fireworks going off over the city, and it's not happening. I know other users have animaeted profile pics that work just fine. What's wrong with mine? Purp, how big is your GIF image when animated?
How many kB?
In order to be animated, it should be smaller than 19.5 KB (althogh I think we have the limit now at almost 25 kB).

Yup, 103 kB are too big to show up the animation, sorry

Well, an animated GIF image is made of a sequence of several single images. It's similar to flip books.
The only way to make it smaller would be to use a tool that can split the image sequence into its single images, and then you'd need to take out several images, and create a new animated GIF file, which then wouldn't be as smooth because of the missing "transition" from image to image in the animation.
There are different software that can split GIFs into single images, and also create an animated GIF from several images.
But there are also online tools for splitting and for creating a GIF, e.g.
