  • Fire extinguisher (not sure I spelled it correctly).
Vacuum cleaner (this doesn't sound very plausible either. )

      That's right! It's called a Laundry Agitator.

      Laundry Tool
      Circa ~ 1920s
Apparently it is the original laundry agitator, back when clothes were washed in a tub of water. The brass plunger at the bottom is spring loaded so that the operator merely pumps it up and down to agitate the soapy water.
      Patent by G.M.a. Berlin.
      35"T x 9.5"W x 5"Dia.

      • Oh man... I feel guilty for even taking that one,
but I can sort of see how it might work.

        • I was thinking donaud had it. Not sure if those caught on in the US. We were more a washboard society in the early days Great submission.

oh, is it a decoration? but to what? and who would want that? it seems to be plastic, or metal... is it vintage?

                    • This one is plastic, though other varieties are simpler, and usually metal.

                            • I think my antecessors would have scoffed at anyone rich enough to afford one of those fancy European washing contraptions

For donaud's is it something a draftsman might use when the old reliable French curve isn't enough?

That's ok, RBS, your line being more the washboard society I can understand that. But I'm glad to see that you have advanced to appreciate a FRENCH tool
