Well, it depends on your internet connection. I have a fast connection, and I had 2 minutes, with a slow connection it may take pretty long.

Check your inventory, it can't be gone, you've probably already

combined it, and it's called wire_hook now

For the tree, I tried that many times, and it worked, it never disappeared....

Oops, you are right I already combined those items. I just had to use

Well, I left to room automatically after Suzy told me that I had to find key and when I went back to room with the safe, the tree was gone. But it isn't important because you don't have to use the tree anymore in that point of the game.
