Did you leave the room in the morning? You need to leave it in the night.

You don't have to leave through the door. Activate the key in your inventory, click only once on the keyhole of the door and then click next to the trap door (could need several times).

I dont seem to be able to get out of the room now

am I missing something? I have the PDA-with the cartridge and the other thing, the heaven key, the umbrella, the diary, the penknife, the pass note, the key to the first safe, and a second note.

Let me ask you cause I'm not sure: Do you have both rings? And did you get access to the PDA putting in the battery and the cartridge?

I put both the battery and the cartridge into the pda, switched it on and entered the password.
I got both rings, but used them to unlock the second safe.

So you got a key from the second safe I suppose.

Then activate this key in your inventory. Make sure that it is night. Click only once on the keyhole of the door and then several times on to the right next to the trap door on the floor. You should get access to a tunnel.
