Me neither. I think we need to look at this differently. What if the quote is another red herring and it's the picture we have to look again?

I still feel that the way the words are laid out is important.

Same here. Besides, what could we possible get from the picture, it's just a purple background, nothing else. And in a way, the ampersand and semicolon from the last level were in fact not red herrings. So there must be something to the quote.

But I'm more leaning towards that him writing Ethics instead is a red herring, that we should overlook, but that's just my opinion

I also have a feeling that the words are aligned like that to make another quote or saying. As it looks, you could also read it as "Ethics has rules".
